• Up to five digital proofs of community impact such as letters or certificates of recognition, news clippings, event photos, project reports, or similar evidence compiled in a single file.

• Personal statement prompt: 

  • “What motivates your community involvement?”

Recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding dedication to community service and leadership through volunteer work, civic engagement, or social advocacy. Highlights youth who take initiative and positively impact their communities.

Supports Filipino Canadian youth who exemplify the spirit of bayanihan by leading positive change and inspiring civic participation. Underscores the value FCNSP places on community leadership and encourages young leaders to continue their efforts.

Students at a Canadian post-secondary institution who are enrolled in, or planning to enter, a creative and cultural arts program such as fine arts, digital arts, visual arts, theatre production, design, or other related disciplines.

Additional requirements

• Digital portfolio with three to five original pieces. Examples include visual art, music recordings, short writing samples, performance videos, or other formats as appropriate. Provide files or links with clear titles or descriptions.

• A CV may be included but it is optional for this category.

• Personal statement prompt: 

  • “What role does your Filipino identity or culture play in your art?”

  • “Describe your artistic journey and inspirations.”

  • “What do you hope to express or change through your work?”

Description
Honours students dedicated to the arts, music, theatre, dance, or cultural studies whose creative work reflects Filipino values such as community, resilience, and shared cultural spirit, enriching their communities through creativity and cultural expression.

Rationale
Celebrates Filipino-Canadian artists and cultural contributors who use their talents to strengthen cultural identity, foster belonging, and enhance the visibility of Filipino culture in Canada.

Students entering their first year of Canadian post-secondary study who are the first in their immediate family to attend post-secondary education in Canada. In this context, first generation means neither parent has attended college or university in Canada.

• Signed declaration confirming that neither parent or guardian has completed post secondary education in Canada. If under 18, a co-signature from a parent or guardian is recommended.

• Optional supporting documents such as copies of parents or guardians highest education certificates or transcripts, if available.

• Personal statement prompt: 

  • “What challenges and motivations come with being the first in your family to study in Canada?”

  • “How has your family’s background shaped your goals?”

  • “What do you hope to achieve through higher education?”

Description
